The Todd County Central baseball team held hosts Franklin-Simpson scoreless in three of the five innings the teams played Tuesday night, unfortunately one of those was a 10-run first that sent the Rebels to a 13-3 loss to the Wildcats.
Todd County drops its second meeting of the season with the Wildcats to slip to 2-7 overall with a trip to Hart County scheduled for Wednesday. The Rebels picked up a 6-1 victory over the Raiders in Elkton earlier this month.
The Wildcats jumped in front with a 2-run homer by Jacob Curtis, before adding 8 more runs in the bottom of the first for a 10-0 lead.
Both teams went scoreless over the next three innings, but the Rebels finally broke through in the top of the fifth with 3 runs. They began the inning by drawing back-to-back walks, before Clayte Weathers came through with an RBI single to score Austin Rager and Gavyn Nolan. Weathers eventually came home on a Franklin-Simpson error to trim the margin to seven.
However, Jase Hampton relieved Weathers to start the bottom of the fifth, walking five of the six batters he faced and yielding 3 runs to end the game with a 13-3 score.
Weathers took the loss, allowing 11 runs, 7 earned, on 8 hits, with 6 walks and a strikeout.
Hunter Crafton worked 4.0 innings for the win for the Wildcats, surrendering a single hit with 3 walks and 7 strikeouts. Curtis finished 3-3 with 3 RBI, followed by Zach Sliger with 2 hits and 2 driven-in.
