Lady Wildcats Break Out the Bats to Finish Season Sweep of Livingston

Hannah Colbert was a double away from the cycle and struck out 10 batters to help lead Trigg County to a 16-6 win at Livingston Central Tuesday. The Lady Wildcats banged out 19 hits a day after getting just two in a loss to Christian County.

Colbert had two singles, a triple, and a home run as part of a four-hit day. She was one of four Lady Wildcats to drive in at least three runs.

It was Livingston that grabbed the quick lead, scoring three times in the first inning. Victoria Joiner and Sydney Lasher hit back-to-back doubles. A Trigg error and Tori Harris single gave the Lady Cardinals a 3-0 lead.

Trigg got a run back in the second inning when Ashlyn Keller singled home Colbert, who had reached on a Livingston error.

The Lady Wildcats broke the game open with a seven-run third inning. Kara Southwood doubled home two runs then scored on a Colbert triple. Phelan Dossett also had a two-run double in the inning, and Logan Darnall added a two-run single.

Colbert smacked a two-run homer to left field in the fourth inning to put the Lady Wildcats up 10-3.
Trigg added two more runs in the fifth inning before seventh grader Victoria Joiner ended the Lady Wildcat surge with a two-run homer to center.

Ashlyn Keller got two of the runs back in the seventh inning with a two-run single. Dossett added a two-run single to round out the scoring.

Colbert finished with four hits and three RBIs, needing just a double to complete the cycle. Keller had two hits and four RBIs, while Dossett and Julia Rhone each had three hits. Dossett, Colbert, and Kara Southwood each drove in three runs.

Colbert struck out 10 and walked none in improving to 13-9 in the circle.

Joiner had two hits and two RBIs for Livingston Central, who dropped to 10-8 overall and 0-5 in district play.

Trigg County moved above .500 to 13-12 and improved to 4-2 in district play. The Lady Wildcats are scheduled to host University Heights Academy Thursday at the Complex.
