A solid day on the lake in the final round gave Cadiz angler Ramie Colson Jr. a season-best sixth place finish in the FLW Tour stop at Lake Chickamauga Sunday.

Colson sat in seventh place after Saturday’s third round, but brought 19-pounds, 7-ounces of bass into his boat Sunday to move into sixth place and win $18,000. More importantly, Colson moved into 49th place on the FLW points list, getting him closer to qualifying for the season-ending Forrest Wood Cup in August. Colson hasn’t fished in the Forrest Wood Cup since finishing second in 2015.

Colson’s four-day total of 76-pounds, 7-ounces was just over seven pounds fewer than the winner, John Cox of Debary, Florida.

If Colson can have a solid showing on Lake Champlain, New York in late June, he should qualify for the Forrest Wood Cup August 9 on Lake Hamilton, Arkansas.
