Wildcat Seniors Play Big Roles in Doubleheader Sweep of Fort Campbell

Trigg County celebrated their baseball senior day with a doubleheader sweep of Fort Campbell Monday at the Complex. Trigg used a six-run fourth inning to win the opener 10-0 in five innings and won 10-0 in the nightcap.

In the opener, every Trigg County starter had at least one hit with four of them going for extra base hits. Trevor Cortner singled and scored on a Riley Stallons hit in the first inning. Caleb Federspiel followed with an RBI double for a 2-0 Wildcat lead.

Trigg added a run in the second when Andrew Williamson walked and came around to score on a passed ball.

Falcon starter Dylan Johnson was hot and cold on the mound. He struck out six in 3.2 innings of work but walked seven.

Trigg County broke the game open in the fourth inning, highlighted by a Wyatt Wagoner double with the bases loaded as part of a six-run inning. Wagoner ended the game in the fifth inning with an RBI groundout.

Also adding extra base hits for the Wildcats were Andrew Syester (double) and Williamson (triple).

Syester got the pitching win, allowing no hits in four innings of work. He struck out four and walked five.

In the nightcap, Williamson pitched a three-inning no-hitter in the 10-0 Wildcat win. He struck out eight and didn’t walk a batter.

Ben Futrell and Tyler Ahart each had two hits, and Greyson Grissom had a three-run double. Trey Carr drove in three runs with a bases loaded walk and two-run single.

Trigg County has won nine straight games against Fort Campbell dating back to 2006.

The Falcons drop to 3-13 and will host Todd County Central Wednesday.

The Wildcats move back above the .500 mark at 12-11. They will host Marshall County Tuesday.
