One night after pulling off a big come from behind rally at Caldwell County, the Hopkinsville Tigers could not quite replicate the feat. Madisonville struck for six early runs and then held on to beat the Tigers 8-3 Friday night in Hopkinsville.

The Tigers were their own worst enemy at times in the first couple of innings. Madisonville scored two runs in the first and four more in the second to take the early 6-0 lead. In those two innings, Hopkinsville committed three errors and gave up five walks.

The Tigers finally got on the board in the bottom of the 4th inning. Layne Jorgenson singled to left field to score Caleb Bapp and trim the lead to 6-1.

The Maroons responded with two runs of their own in the top of the sixth to extend the lead out to 8-1.

Ryan Myers led off the bottom of the inning for Hopkinsville by clearing the fence in left field to make it 8-2. Aaron Crosby took one over the left field fence in the bottom of the 7th to make it 8-3, but that was as close as the Tigers would get.

Ryan Myers and Aaron Crosby were each 1-3, with a home run, and an RBI for Hopkinsville. Layne Jorgensen was 1-3, with an RBI.

On the mound, Jacob Dilday took the loss, giving up six runs, only two of which were earned, on two hits, striking out one, and walking five. Zach Caudill pitched 5 1/3 in the relief, giving up two earned runs, on six hits, and striking out two.
