Chelsea Dortch is a typical athlete at a very small school. If she thinks she can help the team, she will play the sport.

Dortch is set to graduate from Heritage Christian Academy this month. During her athletic career at HCA, Dortch was named All-State in basketball multiple seasons and helped lead the Lady Warriors to the KCAA State Championship game as a junior. She was also named to the all-tournament team.

As a senior, Dortch scored her 1,000th career point in helping HCA to a region runner-up finish and berth in the KCAA State Tournament. In addition to being named to the KCAA All-State team, she was selected to play in the KCAA East-West All-Star Game the past three seasons.

After a standout basketball career, Dortch gave soccer a try this spring. Although she hadn’t played since her youth days, she enjoyed it and adds she probably should have tried it sooner.
