McGowan Leads Blazers to Upset of Henderson County

The UHA Blazers picked up arguably their best win of the baseball season Monday evening. The Blazers went on the road and rallied from a 2-0 first inning deficit to upset Henderson County 3-2. UHA got a superb pitching performance from senior Drew McGowan, while Henderson County had troubles with ball security, committing four errors in the game.

After the Colonels plated two runs in the bottom of the first, McGowan shut the Colonels down, limiting Henderson County to just two more hits the rest of the game.

UHA was able to cut the lead in half with a run in the top of the second. Mason Price walked with two outs, then advanced to 3rd on a single from Drew McGowan. Price then scored on a dropped third strike to make it a 2-1 game.

UHA then added two more runs in the top of the 4th to take the lead at 3-2. Both runs scored as the results of Henderson County miscues.

After that the game belonged to McGowan as he shut down the Henderson offense for the rest of the game.

McGowan ended up going all seven innings, giving up two earned runs on four hits, striking out eleven, while walking only one.

At the plate, McGowan was 1-4, with an RBI, and a run scored. Eston Glover ended up 1-3. The Blazers pick up the win with only three hits in the game. The win was the 4th in a row for the Blazers.
