The Christian County Colonels stopped a five-game slide with a 6-5 victory at Hopkins County Central on Tuesday night, rallying for three runs in the top of the seventh and holding off a Storm surge in the bottom of the inning to pick up the win.

The Colonels improve to 14-12 and will wrap-up the regular season with a visit from Trigg County on Thursday.  Hopkins Central drops its seventh in eight outings to stand at 7-18 overall.

With the game tied in the top of the fourth, Austin Fields put the Colonels on top with an RBI double.  The lead was short-lived, as the Storm tied the game in the bottom of the inning.

In the seventh, Wyatt Stevenson doubled to bring-in Houston George and Lane Diuguid, followed by a RBI sacrifice fly by Eric Silvy for a 6-3 Colonel lead.

Layton Stallons relieved Colonel starter Elijah Underhill in the sixth and he began the seventh by hitting the first Storm batter.  After consecutive singles, Dalton Shadrick singled to bring-in a run and load the bases.  Stallons walked the next batter for a 6-5 score, but with the bases-loaded and only one out, he induced a ground-ball out and a pop-fly to end the threat.

Underhill went 5.1 innings, allowing three earned runs on five hits with six walks and six strikeouts.  Stallons got the last five outs, yielding two runs on three hits with a walk and a strikeout.

Hayden Smith took the loss for the Storm, going the distance while allowing three earned runs on eight hits with three walks and three strikeouts.
