Late Homer Lifts Purples Past Hoptown 11-10

Hopkinsville battled back from an 8-3 deficit to tie the game at 10-10, but Bowling Green scored once in the bottom of the sixth inning to capture an 11-10 decision in baseball action Wednesday night.

Hoptown scored four times in the top of the fifth inning to get within 8-7.

After Bowling Green scored twice in the home half of the fifth, the Tigers came back with three runs in the top of the sixth to draw even. Landon Snyder’s two-run single to center with two outs tied things at 10-10.

However, a leadoff home run to right field by Joe Howard in the bottom of the sixth put the Purples back in front.

Snyder and Aaron Crosby each finished 2-for-4 with two RBIs for Hopkinsville while Layne Jorgensen was 2-for-4 and scored three times.

Evan Spader was 3-for-3 with an RBI for Bowling Green. Howard went 2-for-4 with three runs batted in and two runs scored while Jackson Haga was 2-for-3 and knocked in a run.

Charlie Cummings, the third of four Bowling Green pitchers, picked up the win on the mound. He worked three innings, allowing three earned runs on four base hits.

Hoptown (17-10) has dropped its last three outings.

The Purples (26-10) have won 11 of their last 12 games.
