Lady Tigers Close Regular Season With Loss to Russellville

Hopkinsville senior Nadia Clayton homered in her last home game on Thursday night against visiting Russellville, but the Lady Tigers wrapped up their regular-season slate with a 15-4 loss to the Lady Panthers.

The Lady Tigers drop their second-straight to enter post-season play at 11-22, while the surging Lady Panthers win their third in a row and seventh in eight tries to improve to 20-7 overall.

Russellville jumped out to a 5-0 advantage after the first inning before the Lady Tigers got on the board on a Kaitlyn Kaetzel RBI single in the bottom of the second.

The Lady Panthers led 9-2 after Reese Croslin singled-in two runs in the top of the fourth, and took an 11-2 advantage before the Lady Tigers’ Nadia Clayton cleared the left-field fence with a two-run shot.  Russellville finished things off with four runs in the sixth, highlighted by a two-run triple by Brinley Mason for the final score.

Marley Hancock took the loss for the Lady Tigers, going the distance while allowing fifteen runs, ten earned, on fifteen hits with six walks and five strikeouts.

Addie Mosier earned the win for the Lady Panthers, working 5.0 innings while yielding four runs, two earned, on seven hits with two walks and four strikeouts.  Mason led the way at the plate with three hits and five RBI.
