Christian County Powers Past Crittenden County 13-1 at Regional Baseball

Christian County freshman Elijah Underhill scattered five base hits and held Crittenden County to just one run to pitch the Colonels to a 13-1 victory in five innings Monday at the 2nd Region baseball tournament.

Underhill threw 81 pitches while striking out five and walking four.

Meanwhile, Christian (17-14) backed him up with a four-run first inning and a seven-run third.

Crittenden (18-17) could never get back in the game after falling behind early.

Jase Polley’s two-run home run to center highlighted Christian’s first inning. Wyatt Stevenson added an RBI double.

Bryson Brown singled home two runs in the third. Austin Fields doubled home another run while Underhill and Lane Diuguid had run-scoring singles in the frame to put Christian up 11-0.

Crittenden’s only run came in the top of the fourth.Ben Evans drove in the tally with a single.

Christian added two more runs in the bottom of the frame on an RBI single by Eric Silvy and an RBI double by Stevenson.

Stevenson finished 2-for-4 offensively with a pair if runs batted in. Fields was 2-for-2 and knocked in a run while Elijah Owens went 2-for-3.

The Colonels advance to Tuesday’s 5:30 p.m. semifinal, where they will take on Caldwell County. The Tigers upended Union County 4-1 in Monday’s first opening-round game.
