The one thing that was for sure going into the last game of the day Monday at the 2nd Region softball tournament was that the Lady Colonels were going to win. Whether it was the southern Lady Colonels or the northern Lady Colonels was the part to be decided. What was not known was just how tough Keslie Hill would be for the northern Colonels in the cirle

In a game that was far from typical of how the Christian County Lady Colonels played all seaso long, Henderson County broke out the big bats and used a four run second inning to run their way past Christian County 10-0 in five innings in the final game of the first round of play Monday at Webster County High School. For the game the northern Lady Colonels left the park three times as they roughed up the two Christian County pitchers and cruised to the win.

After the four run second inning, Henderson added one run in the third, three in the fourth, and then two more in the top of the 5th to get to the ten run rule.

Christian County could never seem to get its bats going against Henderson County hurler Kelsie Hill, who held the Christian County bats hitless, and only allowed Tyler Shemwell to reach base on a walk over the course of the five innings. Hill finished the game with six strikeouts against Christian County, against just one walk.

Hannah Sumner took the loss for Christian County, going just 2 1/3 innings, giving up five runs, on five hits, striking out none, and walking one. Sumner was tagged with two of the Henderson home runs. Riley Hancock came in to finish the game, giving up five runs, on four hits, striking out two, and walking two. Hancock was tagged with one of the Henderson County home runs.

The loss marks the first time Christian County has lost in the first round of the regional tournament since 2013.
