Lady Blazers Finish 21st at Class A State Track Meet

Meghan Adams, Lily Hendricks, Evelyn Morales, and Aisha Pantiere teamed to win medals in the 800 and 1600-meter relays at the Class A State Track Meet Thursday.

University Heights had three individuals and two relay teams medal at the KHSAA Class 1A State Track and Field Championships Thursday in Lexington.  The meet was run in the rain for most of the event as showers covered Lexington on and off for most of the day.

Aisha Pantiere took sixth place in the 100-meter hurdles in a time of 17.01, edging Murray’s Campbell Homa who beat her at the region meet.

Evelyn Morales was in fourth place approaching the next-to-last hurdle in a rainstorm in the 300-meter hurdles. She clipped the hurdle and fell but still managed to finish seventh and medal in a time of 50.82.
Morales also finished 11th in the high jump at 4-feet, 10-inches.

Muki Kunnmann ran the final races of her storied distance career at UHA. She finished sixth in the 3200-meter run in a time of 12:24.23, which was. Kunnmann also finished 13th in the 1600-meter run (5:46.98).

In the 400-meter run, Lily Hendricks took 11th place in a time of 1:04.65, while Meghan Adams was 13th in 1:05.13. Adams also finished 14th in the shot put with a toss of 30-feet.

Piper Hancock took 16th place in the 800-meter run in a time of 2:39.99.

Clarissa Miller, competing in her first state track meet, finished 17th in the long jump with a distance of 13-feet, 10.75-inches.

The 800-meter relay team of Lily Hendricks, Aisha Panitere, Meghan Adams, and Evelyn Morales finished in fifth place in a time of 1:49.57, which broke a two-year-old school record by .35 seconds. Hendricks, Morales, Adams, and Piper Hancock took seventh place in the 1600-meter run in a time of 4:22.09.

UHA finished 21st as a team with a total of 13 points. Beechwood won their first girls’ state title with 48 points. Somerset was second with 46.5 points.
