The UHA boys tennis duo of Dylan Edmonson and Brady Bilyeu was hoping for a longer stay in the 2019 Top Seed Tennis Club/KHSAA State Tennis Tournament than they had during the 2018 event, when they lost in the opening round. While not directly impacting the final result Mother Nature decided to have a bit of a say in what took place.

In a match that was stopped, moved inside, and then moved across town, Edmonson and Bilyeu lost their opening round match to the pairing of Ronit Patel and Tate Sine, from Bowling Green High School.

Patel and Sine won the first game of the match on the outdoor courts of the Shively Tennis Center at UK, before the rains came. Initially tournament officials were going to try and play the matches at the indoor facility at UK, however, there were only four indoor courts available, necessitating a move to the Lexington Tennis Center, and delaying the restart of the match until 1:15pm, an hour an a half after the original scheduled start time of the match.

When the match resumed at the Lexington Tennis Center, Patel and Sine continued to control the pace of the match, winning the first set 6-3. They then closed out the match, winning the second set 6-2.

The loss marked the second straight year Edmonson and Bilyeu have lost to a doubles entry from Warren County. In 2018, they fell in the opening round to Landon Gann and Parker Young, from Greenwood.
