Fort Campbell boys’ soccer coach Michael Massie is in preseason with his 2019 Falcons, with a couple of months before they open against Trigg County on August 12, but he also recently made plans for the spring season just across state lines.

Massie was confirmed Monday as the new boys’ coach at Clarksville High School, taking over from Jeff Jordan, who recently stepped down after four seasons.  While Kentucky plays soccer in the fall, Tennessee holds its season in the spring, allowing Massie to transition from the Falcons to the Wildcats with no overlap.

Massie’s first season with the Falcons ended with a 2-10-2 record and a loss to Hopkinsville in the 8th-District tournament.  The 2009 Fort Campbell graduate will need to replace seniors Doryan Hall and Monroe Thomas, but brings back a strong group including Rafael Cerritos and defender Jack Cogbill.

Massie points out that his new situation is no different than a high school coach who moves over to the club side in the spring, adding “we live on the border of two great states, so I’m just thankful for the opportunity.”
