Caldwell County Awards Top Performers at Tennis Banquet

After a strong season on the courts, the Caldwell County tennis program honored its top performers at the team’s annual banquet on Tuesday.

Caldwell’s girls won the 2nd Region team championship this seaon and were also the Kentucky High School Tennis Coaches Association Section 1 champions.

Belle Englebright was named the Most Outstanding Singles Player after going 15-0 during the regular season and winning the regional singles title. Englebright won two matches at the state tournament in Lexington, reaching the round of 16 before falling to the eventual state champion.

Chasie Phelps and Maddie Morgan were each named Most Outstanding Doubles Player. The duo was 13-1 during regular-season matches and won the 2nd Region championship while advancing to the state tournament.

Kaylee McEnaney received the Push Award and was a state singles qualifier.

Josie Shaffer was named the Most Improved Lady Tiger.

Shae Sharp received a Senior Award after spending five years with the Lady Tiger tennis program.

For Caldwell’s boys, Ryan Hammett was selected the Most Outstanding Singles Player after going 11-5 during the regular season.

Shelton Cansler and Jordan Hammett were each named Most Outstanding Doubles Player. The tandem was 9-5 in regular season matches and went 2-1 in the regional tournament while qualifying for the state tournament.

Billy Wallace received the 110% Award.

Ryan Hammett was named the Most Improved Tiger.

Bryce Thompson earned the Coaches Award.

Brycen Banister and Michael Henry each received Senior Awards. Banister played for the Tigers for eight seasons while Henry has been with the program for four years.

My First Win Awards were presented to Josie Shaffer, Ryan Hammett and Nick Adams.
