McGee Bounces Back With Strong Outing in Hot Rods’ Win

Easton McGee broke out of a mini slump with six strong innings for Bowling Green as the Hot Rods beat Great Lakes 5-2 Tuesday at Bowling Green Ballpark.

McGee allowed six hits and two earned runs over six innings. She struck out seven and walked just one. Of his 84 pitches thrown, 57 went for strikes.

The Hot Rods backed McGee with one run in the fourth inning and two runs each in the fifth and seventh innings.

McGee, who was named to the Midwest League All-Star Game, lost his previous two decisions before the All-Star Break. He retired the only batter he faced in the All-Star Game.

The former Hopkinsville High Mr. Baseball improved to 5-2 on the season and lowered his ERA to 3.88. He has struck out 49 batters in 65 innings this season.

Bowling Green, who finished third in the Midwest League Eastern Division in the first half, improved to 3-2 in the second half. The Hots Rods will host Great Lakes again Wednesday night.
