You don’t get extra points for winning pretty, and you don’t lose points for winning ugly. That statement held true Thursday as Hoptown and Dubois County combined for 17 errors in a 15-6 Hopper win before 1,604 fans in Huntingburg.

The Hoppers took advantage of the miscues, scoring five times in the second inning and five more times in the ninth inning.

Santrel Farmer and Drew McGowan each had two hits and three RBIs for the Hoppers, with Farmer scoring four runs from the leadoff spot.

Greg Mehlhaff and Jacob Jenkins also had a pair of hits for Hoptown, who outhit the Bombers 11-8. Jenkins leads the OVL with a .466 batting average.

None of the six runs allowed by Hopper starter Will Nash were earned due to seven Hoptown errors. He struck out six and scattered eight hits in picking up the win.

Dubois County didn’t help themselves with ten errors and 12 walks issued by Bomber pitchers.

The win at Dubois County is only the second for the Hoppers in the past two seasons.

Hoptown (15-10) improved to 15-10 and maintained their one-game lead over Paducah in the OVL West standings. The Hoppers will host Franklin Friday at 6:30 with their annual fireworks show to follow.
