Lyon Post 68 Wins Opener in Columbia, Tenn.

Lyon County American Legion Post 68 rolled to a 14-3 victory over Columbia Post 19 on Thursday in its first game in the Independence Day Classic in Columbia, Tenn.

Colin Price went 2-for-2 with a double and knocked in four runs while Gabe Board was 2-for-3 with a double and four runs batted in for Lyon, which improved to 9-2 on the season.

Brady Betts was the winning pitcher for Post 68, going the first 4.1 innings and allowing two earned runs on three base hits. Betts struck out four but walked five.

Board pitched 1.2 innings of shutout baseball to finish off the win. He surrendered just one base hit while giving up just one free pass.

Lyon never trailed, putting up four runs in the top of the third inning then adding seven runs in the sixth to essentially put the game away.

Board had a bases-clearing double in the sixth while Price added a two-run double in that frame.

Cameron Dean was 2-for-4 for Lyon with two RBIs and three runs scored. Davis Corbett finished 2-for-3 and scored twice.
