Tyler Estes’ baseball journey has had a few detours, but the former Trigg County baseball standout likes the path he is currently traveling.
Estes is spending his summer playing for the Franklin Duelers of the Ohio Valley Baseball League. After missing the first few weeks of the season with a foot injury, Estes has been a mainstay in the Duelers’ lineup, entering the weekend batting .290 with three multi-hit games.
He signed with Kentucky Wesleyan out of high school, but self-admitted burnout caused him to step away from the game. But not for long.
After missing the game, he emerged at Vincinnes University in Indiana where he batted .331 with 20 RBIs and 11 stolen bases during his sophomore season.
Estes signed with Western Illinois University in the spring, which will make him the first Trigg County baseball player in nearly 30 years to play Division I baseball.
