Knoth & Sumner Claim Top 10 Finishes at Junior PGA Stop

Christian County's Hannah Sumner tees off on the 10th hole at the Bowling Green Country Club Monday.

Campbell Knoth and Hannah Sumner overcame the hot weather on the golf course Monday to post  Top 10 finishes at the Kentucky Junior PGA stop at the Bowling Green Country Club.

Knoth, a 2019 Caldwell County graduate who is headed to Murray State this fall, carded a 7-over 79 to finish four shots out of first place in sixth place. Her only double-bogey of the day came on the first hole. She bounced back with a birdie and finished the front-9 with a 39. Knoth had five pars and four bogeys on the back-9.

Sumner, a Christian County senior, had an up-and-down front-9 where she shot a 44. She had six pars and a birdie on the back-9 to shoot a 40. Sumner finished with a 12-over 84 to finish tied for 10th place. She has steadily brought her score down into the low to mid-80s in the past two weeks.

Macie Brown won the 16-18 division with a round of 3-over 75. Julia Hagewood of Sacred Heart Academy finished tied for 13th place with a round of 87 that included a hole-in-one.

Owensboro’s Emma Payne shot an 83 to finish tied for eighth place. Crittenden County’s Lauren Gilchrist shot a 90 to finish 17th.
