Hoppers Clinch OVL West Title With Win at Fulton

Cam Barlow picked up his league-tying sixth win of the season as the Hoptown Hoppers defeated Fulton 5-3 Thursday at Lohaus Field.

The lefty went eight inning and struck out 10 while walking just three. The three runs he gave up were earned. Barlow leads the Ohio Valley League with 61 strikeouts.

Hoptown jumped ahead early when Jacob Jenkins smacked a two-run home run in the first inning. The Hoppers added a run in the fifth inning when Micah Genter singled home Hunter Evans.

Ben Huber launched a solo home run in the sixth inning to put the Hoppers up 4-0.

Fulton got two runs back in the sixth on a two-run homer by Lott. Another run in the seventh cut the Hopper lead to 4-3.

Jenkins scored an insurance run in the eighth inning on a double steal of home.

Brennan Crooms pitched a 1-2-3 ninth inning for his sixth save of the season.

Genter, Jenkins, Huber, and Charlie Fischer each had two hits for the Hoppers (23-12), who moved six games ahead of third place Fulton in the standings. The Hoppers have a 4.5 game lead over Paducah for second place in the OVL West standings. Both the Hoppers and Chiefs only have four games left in the season, which clinches the division title for Hoptown.

The Hoppers return to action Friday at Henderson.
