Lyon County Post 68 dropped a pair of games in the American Legion Junior State Baseball Tournament, which is being held at Jim Boyd Field at Lee S. Jones Park in Eddyville.
The tournament opened Thursday with Oldham County defeating Owensboro.
Oldham advanced to Friday’s first game, where it beat Lyon County 4-1 to drop Post 68 to the loser’s bracket.
Lyon County then fell to Owensboro 10-0 in five innings late Friday to be eliminated from the tournament.
Oldham and Owensboro will square off on Saturday for the state championship in the double-elimination event.
The American Legion Senior State Tournament is set for next week in Eddyville. Lyon County, the defending state champion, will play its first game on Wednesday at 5:30 p.m. against Mayfield. Post 68 is one of the favorites, especially playing on its home turf.
