One of these days Marshall County’s Jay Nimmo will not win the annual Best of the West golf tournament at Lake Barkley State Resort Park, if for no other reason than the Marshall County junior will graduate in the spring of 2021. Nimmo, and his Marshall County teammates, took top honors Friday at the event, which is hosted by Greenwood High School at the Boots Randolph Golf Course. It was Nimmo’s 3rd straight time as medalist of the event.

Nimmo ended up shooting a 68 for the day, including a blistering 31 on the front nine. His score was three shots better than the 71 of Greenwood freshman Michael Lang. 8th grader Jacob Lang, also from Greenwood, finished 3rd with a 72. Bowling Green’s Charlie Reber finished in 4th place with a score of 73.

In the team standings, Marshall County finished first with a score of 293. The Marshalls were five shots better than Greenwood’s “A” team, which finished in 2nd with a 298. Bowling Green’s “A” squad shot a 310 to finish in 3rd place, while Allen County-Scottsville carded a 322 to place 4th.
