Hoppers Sweep Dubois for OVL Championship

8-4-hoppers2

The Hoptown Hoppers finished off another very successful season Saturday night, cruising by the Dubois County Bombers 10-3 in a road win that completed a two game sweep of the Ohio Valley League championship series. The Hoppers took a 2-0 lead in the top of the 2nd inning and never looked back on their way to the championship win.

The Hoppers scored in six of their nine at bats, capped off with three runs in the top of the 8th. Hoptown scored in every inning but the first, the fifth, and the ninth.

The closest the Bombers could get would be 3-1 after the bottom of the 3rd.

Hunter Evans, who hit the game winning home run in Game 1 Friday night, hit another blast Saturday night. Evans ended up 1-4, with a home run, an RBI, and two runs scored. Jacob Jenkins had a huge night for Hoptown, going 3-5, with a home run, three RBIs, and two runs score. Brant Husser finished 2-4, with two RBIs, and a run scored.

Will Nash picked up the win for the Hoppers, going six innings, giving up 3 runs, on nine hits, striking out five, while walking three.

The OVL championship is the third for the Hoppers.  They won the 2012 title in their first season and took the 2016 title.
