The Hopkinsville football team took the field at the Stadium of Champions on Saturday night for its first preseason scrimmage, with Bowling Green scoring on a short run with time running down to take the win.

Hoptown quarterback Jay Bland hit Reece Jesse down the sideline for an 80-yard touchdown, before the Purples’ Max Payne connected with Dylan Echols for a 20-yard strike to tie the game.  Bowling Green’s Jayvan Collins scored the winner on a short plunge and the Tigers couldn’t answer on their final possession as time expired.

The Tigers will be back in action on Friday when they meet Todd County Central in their final preseason scrimmage.
