In 2018, the Christian County girls’ soccer team posted its first winning season since 2011, finishing 10-9-2 while knocking off Hopkinsville in the first round of the 8th-District tournament.  The Lady Colonels would go on to fall 3-1 to UHA in the district-title game, before ending the season with an 8-0 loss to eventual champions Henderson County in the 2nd-Region tournament.

The Lady Colonels lost four seniors to graduation, including goalkeeper Payton Hale.  Hale posted five shutouts last season, while allowing 3.0 goals per game.  In her place, senior Eniya McGee and junior Fiona Knepper look set to split time in the goal in 2019.

Junior Jordan Alder and senior Brianna Igo are back to anchor the defense, with sophomores Emma Fleming and Lillian Larkins helping out in the back, while also getting into the attack.  Fleming found the back of the net 11 times last season, good enough for second on the team, while Larkins was third with 5 goals.

Senior Kylee Knight and junior Alexus Hendrix look set to contribute up top, joined by sophomore Autumn Bell, last season’s leading scorer with 13 goals.  Junior Sarah Watkins and sophomores Abigail Dazey and Megan Lacy have all enjoyed strong preseasons and will bolster the Lady Colonels’ attack.

Christian County will get its regular season underway on Thursday when they host Madisonville-North Hopkins at the Stadium of Champions.
