The Trigg County boys’ soccer team did just enough to leave Morton’s Gap with a win on Monday night, using a late goal by defender Colin Stevens to top the Storm 1-0.  The Wildcats move to 4-0 with a visit from Graves County (0-1) scheduled for Saturday morning, while the Storm slip to 1-2.

The heat took its toll on both teams, with 10-minute water breaks taken midway through each half.  The Storm used a concerted defensive effort, including 9 saves by goalkeeper Chase Garrett, to hold the Wildcats at bay.  Trigg’s Matthew Smith was forced into two saves.

The Wildcats turned up the pressure as the game wound down, and after a series of corner kicks they finally found the breakthrough.  With just over 4 minutes left, Stevens steered the ball home from short range off an assist from Keller Nichols for his first-ever goal and the game-winner for the Wildcats.
