Lady Rebels Outlast Fort Campbell in 5-Set Thriller

Todd County Central outlasted Fort Campbell in a five-set thriller to claim its first volleyball win of the season.

The Lady Rebels won the final three points of the night to finish off a 25-18, 20-25, 24-26, 25-19, 15-13 triumph Thursday night in Elkton.

Freshman Lucy Chester had a big night for Todd (1-2), recording 19 kills, seven assists and five aces.

Freshman Addleigh Wofford had 24 assists and four aces with one kill while sophomore Presley Conquest had nine kills to go with 10 digs and four aces.

Sophomore Meredith Drummond had a team-high 15 kills for the Lady Rebels along with one kill.

For Fort Campbell (0-2), junior Jasmin Jones had a big night, but statistics for the Lady Falcons were not available Thursday night.

Jones had a kill in the third set to break a 24-24 tie and help Fort Campbell go up 2-1 in the contest.

The Lady Falcons led the fourth set 15-14 with a chance to finish the match before Todd finished the set strong to extend the contest. Tied at 18-18, the Lady Rebels took seven of the next eight points to force a deciding fifth set.

The final set was tied eight times — the last at 13-13 after Fort Campbell had led 13-12. But Todd won the last three points.

Todd next plays in the 4th Region All ‘A’ Classic on Saturday.

Fort Campbell plays again on Monday when it hosts Livingston Central.
