Lady Wildcats Claim First Place Trophy at Fulton County

The Trigg County girls’ cross country team opened their season by winning the Fulton County Invitational Saturday. The Lady Wildcats placed five runners in the top 11 and beat host Fulton County by 20 points.

Lexi Ricks led the Lady Wildcats with a sixth place finish (23:44), with Trinity Cavanaugh close behind in the seventh place (24:00). Grace Hill was eighth (24:01, followed by DeDe Barbee in ninth place (24:15), and Livi Ricks (25:01) in 11th place.

Kylie Alford was 15th (25:43), and Phelan Dossett was 34th in 30:27.

Calloway County’s Ainsley Smith, the daughter of former Trigg County golf and baseball coach Steve Smith, won the race in a time of 22:12 over the 3.1-mile course. She edged St. Mary’s Miranda Gartner by six seconds.

In the middle school race, Reese Bush (7th) and Riley Brame (10th) both captured top ten finishes to help Trigg County finish third as a team.

Trigg County will host the Fenton Dawson Memorial Invitational Saturday at the Complex.
