The Trigg County boys soccer team suffered its first loss of the season on Tuesday night, falling behind early and seeing a comeback come up short in a 2-1 loss to visiting Paducah Tilghman.  The Wildcats slip to 6-1 overall and will be back on their home field on Thursday to face Webster County.  The Blue Tornado win their fifth in six tries to move to 5-3-1 on the year.

Paducah Tilghman started quickly and made the pressure pay when Axel Loaiza took advantage of slack marking by the Wildcats to head home off a corner kick by Andrew Davidson.

The Wildcats created chances, but couldn’t find a way past Tilghman goalkeeper Justin West and the 1-0 advantage stood at the halftime break.  The Blue Tornado started the second half much like the first, punishing the Wildcats again on a set piece.  Jack Hutcheson scored on a curling free kick over the outstretched arms of Trigg keeper Matthew Smith just 5 minutes in to double the advantage.

The Wildcats got back into it after Will Jolly was chopped down in the box to earn a penalty kick, making no mistake from the spot for a 2-1 score with just over a half hour to play.  The Wildcats piled on the pressure the rest of the way, but couldn’t find the equalizer.

Smith made 4 saves in goal for the Wildcats, while West had 7 to seal the Blue Tornado victory.
