Lyon County’s Cathryn Brown finished in the top 12 Saturday at the All-A Classic State Golf Tournament in Richmond.
The freshman overcame a shaky start where she had a pair of double bogeys on the front nine for a score of 43. She recovered on the back nine where she had seven pars and a birdie for a 1-over 37. She finished with a round of 8-over on the par 72 course at Arlington Golf Club that was playing at 5,685 yards.
Lexington Christian Academy’s Laney Frye easily took medalist honors with a 6-under par 66, winning by six shots over teammate Delia Gibbs. Murray’s Mary Howell (+3) was fifth, and Crittenden County’s Lauren Gilchrist (+6) was tenth.
