Lyon County took an early lead, but Trigg County came roaring back in boys’ 5th District soccer action Monday in Eddyville.

The Lyons (2-7-1) tried to grab the momentum when Levi Willis hammered home a long shot over the keeper in the 11th minute.

But Trigg (8-1) countered with the tying goal in the 13th minute, then went ahead in the 16th minute.

Will Jolly scored both goals for the Wildcats as part of his hat trick in the contest as Trigg picked up a 5-1 victory.

Jolly tied the game with a penalty kick, then came back three minutes later to push Trigg in front.

Jolly’s third straight goal came on another PK in the 32nd minute, helping the Wildcats take a 3-1 lead to halftime.

Trigg continued to dictate play in the second half, with Christian Llarena making it a 4-1 game in the 49th minute. Llarena’s goal came on a long free kick from the right side.

Ben Futrell scored the final goal in the 66th minute, getting help from Keller Nichols to make it 5-1.

The two teams will square off again Sept. 17 at the Trigg Recreation Complex.
