The Trigg County volleyball team faded in a first set loss before being doomed by slow starts in the final two for a 3-0 loss to visiting Calloway County on Tuesday night. The Lady Lakers win their third-straight to improve to 6-3, while the winless Lady Wildcats will be back in action on Thursday when they travel to Elkton to face the Todd County Central Lady Rebels. Todd County earned a 2-0 win over Trigg just under a week ago at wRECk @ The Plex.
After trailing early in the first set, the Lady Wildcats pulled to within a couple of points at 9-11, but the Lady Lakers closed with a 14-3 run to take the set 25-12.
Calloway jumped out to a 6-1 advantage in the second and never looked back, leading 10-3 and 18-12 before going up 2-0 with a 25-16 victory.
Trigg County looked to be in danger of being shutout in the third set, trailing 17-0 before finally getting on the board, but the Lady Lakers ran out to a comfortable 25-10 win to clinch the match.
