First-Half Goals Stand Up for Hoptown in 2-1 Win at UHA

Hopkinsville scored twice in the first 24 minutes and made those goals stand up in a 2-1 boys’ soccer victory at University Heights Academy on Wednesday.

Hoptown, now 7-4 overall and 3-0 in the 8th District, scored in the 12th minute when a throw-in by Mason Marschand found its way into the UHA net.

The Tigers struck again in the 24th minute when Jose Favela scored off an assist from Tyler Greenwell after a short corner kick. That put Hopkinsville up 2-0 at UHA’s Givens Field.

University Heights (5-3, 2-1) made things interested late when Will Bryan scored in the 67th minute.
But Hopkinsville held on for the 2-1 victory.

The Tigers outshot the Blazers 10-7.

Xavier Bussell made six saves in the Hopkinsville net.

UHA will play Christian County on Thursday at the Stadium of Champions.

Hoptown will visit Marshall County Thursday.
