Freshman Antonio Cervantes found the back of the net twice to help the Fort Campbell boys soccer team snap a four-game winless run with a 3-1 win over Todd County Central in Elkton Thursday night.

The Falcons improve to 3-7-1 with an 8th-District meeting with Christian County coming up on Tuesday.  The Rebels drop their sixth-straight and will be looking for their first 13th-District win when they go on the road to Franklin-Simpson on Monday.

Cervantes got his first on a looping half-volley from the edge of the 18-yard box that dropped in over Rebel goalkeeper Jonah Rager’s outstretched arms.  The Falcons doubled the advantage in the 24th minute when Jhony Paniagua-Solis converted a penalty kick, before Cervantes got his second on a similar shot to the first with less than two minutes left in the half.

Trailing 3-0, the Rebels improved defensively in the second half, with Rager also doing his part in goal to hold the Falcons scoreless.  The breakthrough finally came with two minutes to play when Luis Herrara’s long free kick hit the crossbar and Jose Villanueva was able to head in the rebound for the final 2-goal margin.
