Hoptown Finds Some Offense in Win at Tilghman

9-26-harton

After struggling to find the net in recent weeks, Hopkinsville made the most of their opportunities in a 4-1 win at Paducah Tilghman Thursday.

Hoptown only put 10 shots on goal in the contest but scored on four of them. Jose Favela scored twice, including a goal five minutes in to give the Tigers a 1-0 lead. His second goal came just before halftime on a penalty kick.

The Tigers weren’t done in the half as Mason Rye scored on a free kick with just seconds remaining in the half. Miguel Magana provided some insurance when he scored off a Tyler Greenwell feed.

It was only the second time in nine matches that Hopkinsville has scored more than two goals. They are 4-4-1 during that stretch. However, their defense has been solid in that time, allowing just 13 goals. The Hoptown defense allowed just four shots on goal to the Blue Tornado, with Xavier Bussell and Manny Martinez combining for three saves.

Hopkinsville (10-7-1) returns to action Monday in Dixon against Webster County.
