The Hopkinsville Tigers will head into the postseason on a five match winning streak. The Tigers wrapped up the regular season Saturday afternoon with a 2-1 win over Greenwood at the Stadium of Champions. Over their past five matches, the Tigers have outscored their opponents 21 goals to 3.

Greenwood took the early lead Saturday afternoon, finding the net just 3 ½ minutes into the match to take the early 1-0 lead. Musa Kwililo connected on the header off a direct kick on the goal.

The Tigers came back to tie the match at the 25:00 mark when Tyler Greenwell took a pass from Mason Rye and drove it past the goalie to even things up at 1-1.

Nine minutes later, Welby Horn pushed the ball down the right side of the field, made the pass to Zach Bryant, who found the net to give the Tigers a 2-1 lead. The half would end with that score intact.

In the second half, the Tiger offense could not find the net again, but the defense locked down on the Gators to protect the one goal margin. Preston Durham and Mason Marschand gave Hopkinsville big minutes in turning Greenwood away. Goalie Xavier Bussell had three big saves between the 62:00 and 65:00 to help preserve the win.

The Tigers, who have not lost since falling to Warren Central on September 21, move to 13-7-1, and will open district tournament play Monday evening against Christian County.
