Hoptown Runners Place Well at Greater Louisville Classic

Hopkinsville’s cross country teams got a chance to measure themselves against some of the best runners in several states Saturday at the Greater Louisville Classic at Tom Sawyer State Park.

Chase Atkins ran a time of 16:27 over the 3.1-mile course. He finished in 25th place. Madison Central’s Conner O’Shea won the race in a time of 15:16.

Freshman Chance Jones finished 214th in a time of 18:24, followed by Zachary Gugle (361st, 20:50); Jonathan Quincey (368th, 21:06); Michael Combs (393rd, 22:53); and Jerel Lee (407th, 25:38).

On the girls’ side, Allison Wood finished 71st out of 319 runners with a time of 20:43 over the 3.1-mile course. She finished 2:33 behind the race winner, Ciara O’Shea of Madison Central.

Eva Blankenberger finished 207th in a time of 23:29. She was followed across the finish line by Chloe Palacios (233rd), and sixth grader Brooklyn Taylor (308th).
