Henderson County, Madisonville Top Boys’ Soccer Region RPI

The KHSAA has released their Ratings Percentage Index (RPI) for boys’ soccer as schools across the state head into region tournament play.

Henderson County and Madisonville are the top-ranked teams in the Second Region with an identical RPI of .601. The RPI is calculated from the team’s winning percentage, their opponent’s winning percentage, and their opponents’ opponents’ winning percentage.

Hopkinsville (.585), Trigg County (.555), and University Heights (.555) round out the top five. Trigg County and UHA meet in the first round of the region tournament Monday night in Henderson.

Webster County (.407) is sixth, and Fort Campbell (.394) is seventh.

Hopkinsville played the toughest schedule in terms of their opponent’s winning percentage (.583), followed by Webster County (.537), Henderson County (.534), UHA (.505), and Christian County (.486). Madisonville (.457) was seventh, and Trigg County (.405) was ninth.

The RPI being used by the KHSAA will be used to seed football teams in the third round of the postseason. There are no immediate plans for soccer to use the RPI in the postseason.
