There have been 15 KCAA Region 1 volleyball championship trophies given out since 2005, and all of them reside on the Eagle Way Bypass at Heritage Christian Academy.

The Lady Warriors extended their streak Tuesday with a 25-8, 25-16 win at Oak Ridge Christian Academy. Both teams will move on to the KCAA State Tournament in 11 days in Nicholasville. The Lady Warriors are looking at a top-five seed in the tourney.

Heritage Christian scored the first nine points of the opening set, with Emma Kirkham collecting five aces. After moving out to a 10-1 lead, HCA never allowed their lead to dip into single digits the rest of set.

Oak Ridge scored the first three points of the second set, but HCA responded with the next eight and never trailed the rest of the night.

After a shaky first set serving that gave Oak Ridge five of their eight points on service errors, HCA was 26-of-27 in the second set.

Kirkham finished the match with six of HCA’s 11 aces. Allie Schluckebier added five kills and a block, and Elizabeth Pitts contributed three aces and two kills.

Meredith Crunk had two aces and a kill, and Elle Heltsley had three kills and an ace.
Pitts and Peach were named to the Region 1 All-Tournament Team, and Pitts was named the MVP.

Heritage Christian has won seven straight matches and improved to 19-13 as they prepare for the KCAA State Tournament Nov. 1-2.
