Jacob Boling scored a hat trick, including the game-winner with three minutes left to give Daviess County a 3-2 win over Madisonville in the first round of the KHSAA Boys’ State Soccer Tournament Tuesday.

Dalton Daves got Madisonville on the scoreboard 12 minutes in with his 18th goal of the season. Boling wasted little time in playing from behind as he scored the equalizer two minutes later.

Daviess County took the lead in the 30th minute when Boling scored off a corner kick for a 2-1 Panther lead that would last into halftime.

Daves fed Luke McElroy for the tying goal for the Maroons in the 51st minute. With three minutes left, Boling scored what proved to be the game-winner for the Panthers.

Daviess County (19-2-2) moves on to the Thursday quarterfinals where they will play Warren Central, a 3-1 winner over Marshall County.

Madisonville’s season ends with a record of 20-4-2. They had been 13-0-1 in their previous 14 matches dating back to their last loss on Sept 17 – also to Daviess County.
