On a muddy course that had already seen five races, Hopkinsville junior Chase Atkins slogged to a 3rd-place finish on Saturday at the Region 1 AAA cross-county meet at Marshall County High School.  On the girls’ side, sophomore Allison Wood was the top Hoptown finisher in 6th place.

The boys finished 8th out of eleven teams with 219 points, led by Atkins’ 16:51.64.  However, the next Tiger runner was freshman Chance Jones (18:42.49) in 27th, followed by sophomore Jonathan Quincey (21:17.18) in 58th.  Senior Zachary Gugle finished 60th with a 21:22.96, with freshman Jerel Lee (25:09.60) and junior Michael Combs (26:13.69) at 71st and 72nd, respectively.
