Lady Warriors’ Volleyball Season Ends With 21 Wins

Heritage Christian Academy saw their volleyball season come to an end Saturday at the Kentucky Christian Athletic Association State Tournament in Nicholasville.

HCA entered the state tourney as a No. 4 seed but didn’t get a favorable first round draw. Each of the four region winners receive the top four seeds in the tourney. Somerset Christian, who was ranked No. 1 for most of the season, was beaten in their region championship game by Trinity Christian and slipped to the No. 5 seed.

The Lady Warriors dropped their opener to Somerset in straight sets, snapping an eight-match winning streak. The loss moved HCA into the consolation bracket where they beat Micah Christian of Hillview 25-17, 25-23.

HCA met Region Three champion Community Christian Academy of Independence in the consolation quarterfinals where they lost 25-23, 25-12.

Trinity went on to beat Somerset Christian in three sets for their fourth straight KCAA state title.

Senior Emma Kirkman was named to the All-Tournament team for Heritage Christian, who ends their season with a 21-15 record and a No. 5 ranking in the KCAA Power Poll.
