Allison Wood continues to take her state meet times lower after finishing 54th Saturday at the Class 3A State Cross Country Meet in Lexington.
The Hopkinsville freshman ran a time of 20:47 on the 3.1-mile course at the Kentucky Horse Park to finish 54th out of 287 runners in the meet that was run in mid-40 degree weather. While her finish was 20 places lower than last year, her time was 10 seconds faster.
Wood will return to the track in the spring for Hopkinsville with her sights set on qualifying for several distance events.
Madison Central freshman Ciara O’Shea dominated the 3A race, taking first place in 18:29 which was 40 seconds faster than second place Jessica Secor of Manual.
