Caldwell Ties Hoptown, Beats Whitesville Trinity in Scrimmages

Caldwell County’s girls picked up a win and a tie in their first basketball scrimmages of the preseason.

The Lady Tigers defeated Whitesville Trinity 49-37 but then played Hopkinsville to a 26-26 draw in action Saturday at the CAB gym in Princeton.

The games were played in two 20-minute halves with a running clock. Only one free throw was shot on fouls, with a made free throw worth two points.

Caldwell won both halves in its opener against the 3rd Region school from Daviess County.

The Lady Tigers took the first half 23-17. Trinity scored the first eight points of the second half before Caldwell came back to win that period 26-20.

Jacey Jaggers and Lucy Goffinet each scored 13 points to lead Caldwell while Jada Boyd added 10. Parris Gray had five points while Karsyn Parker and Majah Hollowell had four apiece.

Morgan Kinsey led the Lady Raiders with 12 points. Cassidy Morris added 11 and Josie Aull had 10.

The Caldwell-Hopkinsville scrimmage was close all the way. Hoptown won the first half 16-15 before Caldwell came back to take the second half 11-10.

Jaggers had eight points in that game for Caldwell while Hollowell added seven. Tamia Walker scored three points. Boyd, Parker, Gray and Goffinet each had two points.

Lakaya Samuel led Hopkinsville with 14 points.
