Ethan Noel had a helping hand to extend Centre’s historic men’s soccer season Sunday. The Hopkinsville High alum scored a goal to help the Colonels beat Montclair State 3-2 in overtime in the NCAA Division III Elite 8 in Gambier, Ohio.
Noel’s goal was the first of the game and his third of the season. It came in the 55th minute. Down 2-1 in the waning minutes, Centre scored in the 89th minute to tie the match and scored the game-winner five minutes into overtime. Centre outshot Montclair State 24-7 in the contest.
Centre (21-3-1) advances to the NCAA D-III Final Four for the first time in school history. The Colonels will play Amherst College (19-1-2), who beat Rensselaer 3-1 Sunday. The semifinal will be played Friday, Dec. 6 in Greensboro, North Carolina.
