Muhlenberg Trio Too Much For Lady Tigers

The Muhlenberg County Lady Mustangs got hot in the 2nd quarter Friday night. Not just hot, but big time red hot. Muhlenberg County used a 33 point explosion in the second quarter to set them on their way to rolling to a 72-36 win over the Hopkinsville Lady Tigers in Greenville.

Hopkinsville appeared to have things going their way in the early going. The Lady Tigers limited the Lady Mustangs to just four points in the first quarter, as Hoptown took an 8-4 lead.

Then the bottom fell out. Destin Armour, Elisabeth Joines, and Grace Hauslein combined to score all 33 of their team’s second quarter points as the Lady Mustang offense kicked it into gear. The Lady Mustang defense limited Hopkinsville to ten points in the quarter, as Muhlenberg County went form a four point deficit to a 37-18 lead at the half.

The Muhlenberg trio kept at it in the third quarter, as they scored 25 of their team’s 28 points in the quarter. By the time the quarter came to an end, the Lady Mustangs had extended their lead to 65-30.

Muhlenberg County then finished the game with reserves on the court, as they finished with the 36 point win.

Donisha Flowers led the way for Hopkinsville with 23 points. Lakayla Samuel added nine points, while Shaterrea Bellamy finished the game with four.

For Muhlenberg County, Joines ended the night with 25. Armour scored 21, while Hauslein added 20.
