Hopkinsville Runs Past Lady Falcons in District Contest

The Hopkinsville Lady Tigers used pressure defense to spark their offense in an 8th District matchup against Fort Campbell Saturday afternoon. The Lady Tigers scored the first 19 points of the game and never looked back, on their way to a 75-11 win on post.

Fort Campbell finally got on the board at the 2:25 mark of the first quarter, when Asia Cabili scored to make it a 19-2 game. The first quarter ended with Hoptown holding a 21-2 lead. Donisha Flowers had a big first quarter for Hopkinsville with six points.

The Lady Tigers opened the second quarter on a 11-0 run to push the lead out to 32-2. Fort Campbell had their best stretch in the game scoring the next five points, but the run was short lived as Hopkinsville finished the half 12-0 to take a 44-7 lead into the locker room.

The second half played out quickly with a running clock. Led by the play of Lakayla Samuel, Hopkinsville pushed their lead out to 57-9 at the end of the third quarter. Samuel had five points in the quarter.

The Lady Tigers kept on rolling in the 4th quarter, scoring the first 18 points to run the lead out to 75-9. Fort Campbell got a late basket to lock in the final score.

Lakayla Samuel led the way for Hoptown with 20 points. Shatera Bellamy added 17 points for the Lady Tigers. Jakayla Epps finished with 13 points, including three 3-pointers. Donish Flowers and Dashiya Radford had 8 points each.

Asia Cabili was the top scorer for the Lady Falcons, finishing with 7 points. Lauren Anderson and Jittakarn Teerapunyachai added a basket each for Fort Campbell.
