A week and a half into the season and it appears that three teams may be separating themselves a little bit from the rest of the region, although there is still a long way to go. Henderson County looks to be solid as a contender again. Madisonville has been impressive out of the gate. And, Webster County is still a team that has to be reckoned with. Now, is there a team somewhere that can make a run to disrupt these three at the top of the list.

– Henderson County – The northern Lady Colonels have dropped a pair of games to teams from “north” of the border, but have been impressive against Kentucky opponents. A brutal stretch of games ahead will test this team’s mettle.

– Madisonville – The Lady Maroons have given up no more than 30 points in their first three games. In fact, they have only given up 30 in each of the three games. The Peyton sisters and Camryn LaGrange make a solid core that could be contenders in the region come March. A big game Friday, as they take on Webster County.

– Webster County – The Lady Trojans were impressive in picking up a big win over a solid Caldwell County squad. Friday night will tell us significantly more about where this team currently stands and its potential for the rest of the season.

– Christian County – The southern Lady Colonels ran into a buzzsaw Tuesday night in Madsionville. How this bunch responds to that kind of loss over the next couple of weeks could well set the tone for the rest of the season.

– Caldwell County – The Lady Tigers have easily handled Lyon County and Crittenden County. They put up a hard fight against Christian County, but were handled by Webster County. This team so far is exhibiting a physical toughness, which is always good come tournament time. They have stepped into the favorite’s role in the girls 2nd Region All A tournament.

– Trigg County – The Lady Wildcats have rebounded from their season opening loss to Paducah Tilghman with wins over Crittenden County and Fort Campbell. They have the chance to be on a pretty good roll when we flip the calendar page over to 2020.

– Union County – The Bravettes stuggled in a big loss to Apollo, but picked up a win over Hopkins Central in the 6th District/7th District challenge. A problem for the Bravettes is that they could be among the top seven in the region, but because they share a district with Henderson and Webster, they might not see the region tournament.
